Engaging students, teachers, and parents to help end the High School Dropout Epidemic

High dropout rates continue to be a silent epidemic afflicting our nation's schools. Although some measurable progress is being made to raise high school graduation rates, the nation's progress is too slow and the costs continue to mount.

The success of our nation's students is up to all of us. There is a consensus that teachers, students, and parents all have crucial roles to play and that together they can break through many of the barriers that are leading students to drop out of high school.

John Bridgeland released Civic Enterprises's latest report, Raising Their Voices: Engaging Students, Parents, and Teachers to Help End the High School Dropout Epidemic, at the United 2020 Education Summit hosted by the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas in partnership with America's Promise Alliance, AT&T, and the Dallas Regional Chamber. Mary Yonkman moderated the "Academic Achievement" panel. Laura Moore participated on the "Parent Engagement and Mentoring" panel.

We are looking for motivated fellows to join our team for a semester or summer fellowship to assist on critical research, strategy sessions and the drafting of national reports. We are a small, dynamic team looking for fellows interested in working on public policy surrounding significant issues.
