Alliance announced their GradNation campaign to address the high school
dropout epidemic. John Bridgeland co-authored The Silent Epidemic:
Perspectives of High School Dropouts and led the National Summit on
America's Silent Epidemic that led to this national movement.
Bridgeland and Mary Yonkman co-authored with Robert Balfanz and Joanna
Fox Grad Nation: A Guidebook to Help Communities Tackle the Dropout
Crisis.

Gathering of Leaders" in Miami, Florida. This event aims to look at
how we can release the potential of social entrepreneurship to
accelerate social change. John spoke on the plenary panel "Institutionalizing Social Innovation in Government".

were in Zanzibar to meet with the Minister of Health and leaders from
the National Malaria Control Program to understand how Zanzibar has
effectively controlled malaria across the country and what lessons can
be applied in other countries across Africa.

visited the A-Z Factory in Arusha, Tanzania, where more than 90,000
malaria bed nets are produced every day and more than 7,000 Tanzanians
are employed.

Steven Phillips, Global Health Project Director and Physician for
Exxon Mobile and Malaria No More board member, and members of the
Malaria No More team participated in the Zinduka ("Wake Up") Malaria
Campaign with President Kikwete and African rock stars to educate
Tanzanians on how to prevent and treat malaria.

John M. Bridgeland attended the 2010 Annual President's Advisory
Board meeting at EARTH University in Costa Rica. They spent the three
days evaluating the academic curriculum, discussing the 20th Anniversary
of EARTH University and touring the facilities.

The tough job market hits those in need most. According to the
New York Times, 20,000 people a day are signing up for food stamps, and almost nine out of ten people who benefit from the program are below the poverty line. More than one in ten Americans already rely on food stamps, including half of those under 20 and 90 percent of African-American children.
