February 9, 2017 -  John Bridgeland gave a TED talk at TEDx Pennsylvania Avenue entitled, "One Nation: Indivisible". The talk will be available for viewing soon. 
January 22, 2017 -  Sylvia Earle and John Bridgeland write an op.ed for The Huffington Post on the release of the National Geographic film, Sea of Hope. 
January 15, 7pm -  Sea of Hope, featuring oceanographer Sylvia Earle and teenage aquanauts on their journey from sea to shining sea to secure marine protected areas in U.S. waters, airs around the world on the National Geographic Channel. Bob Nixon is the film's producer and Sarah Nixon and John Bridgeland are Executive Producers. 
January 5, 2017 -  Sylvia Earle, Bob Nixon, John Bridgeland premiere their Sea of Hope film at National Geographic to an overflowing crowd to bring the national park idea to the ocean in the next century-- the "Blue Centennial".
December 7, 2016 -  On the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, John Bridgeland discusses 9/11 and the spirit of service and civic engagement that emerged after that day on 
November 30- December 3, 2017 -  EARTH President's Advisory Board Chair John Bridgeland and President's Youth Advisory Board member Fallon Bridgeland participate in the 24th EARTH University Graduation with President José Zaglul, former Board Chair Randal C. Teague, Sr., and more than 100 graduates from more than two dozen countries.
November 14, 2016 - 

General Stanley McChrystal, John Bridgeland, Alan Khazei, Arne Duncan, Walter Isaacson, Elliot Gerson, Tae Yoo, Jean Case, Shirley Sagawa, Mackenzie Moritz, Zach Maurin, and other leaders launched the Service Year Alliance in New York City, with a goal of 1 million 18-28 year olds in a full year of national service within a generation. Civic Enterprises advances many education initiatives aimed at increasing the national high school graduation rate, such as the GradNation Campaign and American Graduate, and is partnering with several organizations working in the field of education, including the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, and Committee for Children.

Econ. Mobility

Civic Enterprises, in partnership with Opportunity Nation and Hart Research Associates, has worked on a research effort to marshal voices of low-income Americans on the challenges of fulfilling the promise of economic opportunity and mobility in the United States.

Civic Engagement

Civic Enterprises collaborates with organizations that are part of the National Service Alliance, including The Franklin Project, the National Conference on Citizenship, Voices for National Service, and ServiceNation, to advance the idea that all young Americans should commit to a year of full-time national service.

Global Affairs

Civic Enterprises has worked with a diverse array of international organizations, including Children International, Special Olympics, and the National Peace Corps Association, to develop initiatives and strengthen their work both domestically and internationally.


Civic Enterprises is partnering with numerous organizations and programs, such as the Earth Conservation Corps, EARTH University, and the 21st Century Conservation Service Corp, to strengthen environmental policies and initiatives on a national and global scale.


Civic Enterprises is working for The Heritage Foundation to develop a defined long term Medicare reform strategy and health proposals to tie together the health and entitlement LFA teams, working closely with the Director for the Center for Health Policy studies and the Director of the Roe Institute.
