March 12, 2014 -  Former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke and Franklin Co-Chair John Bridgeland, both members of the Bipartisan Policy Center's Commission on Political Reform, wrote an op-ed, "Answering Our Country's Call," for The Hill, which appeared today.  
February 18, 2014 -  Iowa Governor Terry Branstad instructed his departments and agencies to expand national service across the state, working in partnership with the Franklin Project at The Aspen Institute.  John Bridgeland, Co-Chair of the Franklin Project, wrote op-ed on this new initiative, which appeared in The Gazette today in Iowa.  
February 10, 2014 -  John Bridgeland and Tess Mason-Elder traveled to Lilongwe, Malawi this week to participate in Special Olympic's African Leaders Summit on ways to improve services and opportunities to disabled populations in developing countries. 
January 31, 2014 -  John Bridgeland, AT&T, and David Shapiro of MENTOR led a roundtable discussion around AT&T's Aspire Mentoring Academy bringing together a working group of important partners in the mentoring field to share best practices and find opportunities to learn from and collaborate with each other.   
January 31, 2014 -  John Bridgeland, along with David Shapiro, President and CEO of MENTOR, John Gomperts, President and CEO of America's Promise Alliance, Mark Edwards, Executive Director of Opportunity Nation, Jean Rhodes, Director of the Center for Evidence-based Mentoring at the University of Massachusetts, and Mary Martinez, President and CEO of Mass Mentoring Partnership participated in a panelist discussion at the National Mentoring Summit to discuss the insights gained from the first-ever nationally representative survey of young people on the topic of mentoring.  
January 10, 2014 -  Mary Bruce of Civic Enterprises and David Shapiro of the National Mentoring Partnership with John Bridgeland, briefed the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, The Corporation for National and Community Service, and the Department of Education on findings from the soon-to-be-released report, "The Mentoring Effect: Young People's Perspectives on the Outcomes and Availability of Mentoring."  This report, to be released on Monday, January 13, is the first nationally representative survey of young adults on their experiences with mentoring, and provides promising paths forward that communities, states, and federal agencies can take in order to leverage the power of mentoring to keep young people on a healthy and productive path to adulthood. 

"The Mentoring Effect" was written for the National Mentoring Partnership by Civic Enterprises, with evaluation and data analysis conducted by Hart Research Associates, and sponsored by AT&T.  
January 8, 2014 -  John Bridgeland, Tess Mason-Elder, and Erin Ingram participated in the launch of the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps at the FDR Memorial with Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewel.

In 2010, a coalition of leading institutions adopted as part of the Grad Nation campaign the Civic Marshall Plan to end the dropout epidemic and reach the national goal of having 90 % of U.S. students graduate from high school and obtain at least one year of postsecondary schooling or training by 2020.

Civic Engagement

Since 2006, Civic Enterprises has worked with the National Conference on Citizenship, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the U.S. Census Bureau to release an annual Civic Health Assessment in order to help communities harness the power of their citizens.

Global Affairs

To coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Peace Corps Act, Civic Enterprises released the first large-scale, independent, nationally representative survey of the more than 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers who have served since 1961 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Peace Corps Act.

Civic Enterprises works with the National Parks Conservation Association, the National Parks Service, and the Department of Interior to insure that the greatest national resources in America are available for all. Civic Enterprises will play a key role at the Summit on National Parks: Taking Action for a New Century, in Washington, D.C. on January 24-26, 2012.


Civic Enterprises is working for The Heritage Foundation to develop a defined long term Medicare reform strategy and health proposals to tie together the health and entitlement LFA teams, working closely with the Director for the Center for Health Policy studies and the Director of the Roe Institute.
