Brock Bierman
As Managing/Senior Advisor for Civic Ancestry, Bierman overseas day to day operations and implementation of the divisions' mission, message, programming and budget.

Previous to Civic Ancestry, Bierman worked within the George W. Bush Administration for almost 7 years. Appointed by President Bush on August 20, 2007, Bierman was sworn in as the first Small State and Rural Advocate (SSRA) at the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA). Bierman also served as Director of the Community Preparedness Division in addition to his role as SSRA.
As head of the Community Preparedness Division, Mr. Bierman oversaw the Citizen Corps Program and other grassroots initiatives that worked to engage citizens in community preparedness activities. In his role as Small State and Rural Advocate, he was also involved with delegating informal policies and processes during the disaster declaration phase for small states and rural communities. His position ensured that the needs of rural communities are addressed in the disaster declaration process and assists small population states in preparing their requests for disaster declarations.
Before joining FEMA, Mr. Bierman was Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia of the U.S. Agency for International Development. He coordinated and helped implement the bureau's top strategy priorities and participated in the oversight of Agency conflict mitigation, democracy, health, and trade initiatives within the region. Additionally, he managed all aspects of the bureau's public outreach activities, including communicating the bureau's mission, objectives and accomplishments in 23 countries. Mr. Bierman served for six years in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. He was also the president and owner of a leading investigative firm specializing in corporate intelligence and intellectual property.
Over the past 25 years Bierman has played an active role with various genealogical, historical and preservation societies across the nation. He has served in a number of leadership capacities including genealogist and 2nd Vice President for the Rhode Island Society Sons of the American Revolution, and currently holds the position of Treasurer for the DC Society. Bierman is a member in good standing with the Association of Professional Genealogist and has written and researched hundreds of genealogical histories for individual membership into a varied of lineage societies including the DAR, SAR and the Mayflower Society.
Mr. Bierman has a Bachelor's degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and sat on the Alumni Board of Directors from 2005-2009 . He has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 23 years and they have two children, Allison (age 15) and Robert (age 12).
