The Results

In response to the worsening education crisis, Civic Enterprises led a study on America's dropouts to better understand the nature of the problem and the solutions required. The resulting study, The Silent Epidemic: Perspectives of High School Dropouts, received nationwide attention, led to a Time cover story, and was featured on Oprah and NPR.

With the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, we wrote Achievement Trap: How America is Failing Millions of High-Achieving Students from Lower-Income Families, which chronicles the struggles and successes of high-achieving lower-income students across the country. The findings were reported by the Associated Press, reaching millions of news readers across the country, and highlighted in Time.

A third report, America’s Civic Health Index, written with the National Conference on Citizenship, has reinvigorated the discussion of citizenship. It was the subject of a Time article, as well as being featured in newspapers internationally.
